2020 Pensacola ABMA Cancelation Notice

The Aviation Boatswain's Mates Association
Is Always Here For Our Members!

Greetings ABs,

Let me first start this message in giving our condolences again to our brothers and sisters of the Aviation Ordnance community for their recent loss of one of their own. I know they probably not see this message, since they wont follow our page, but we will still pay our respects.

We are living through something that has not been experienced since the Spanish Flu of 1918. There are a lot of people in our country that are going through some very rough times, so it is with a heavy heart that I report the cancellation of our 49th Annual ABMA Professional Working Group in Pensacola. The Board of Directors worked very diligently to ensure we waited until the last possible moment to cancel this event, but in the end the Board felt that the safety of our Sailors and Veterans was more important than risking exposing anyone to potentially fatal disease.

The official naval message will be out soon, but I wanted to get the word out to as many people as possible, so if you made any reservations at any local hotel, you will be able to call and get a refund.

The ABOY, and Regina P, Mills, as well as the other Association annual awards will stay on schedule. Once the winners are selected, we will notify the fleet through naval message, via our social media, and the winners will be presented the award by their individual command. The winners of this years awards, will be invited and recognized at our 50th Annual Professional Working Group in San Diego, CA. .

We want to thank LCDR Wayne Sirjoo and his team at the AB Schoolhouse and the ABMA Gulf Coast Chapter for all of their hard work. I know the local chapter worked hard to host this years working group, and the whole fleet looks forward that maybe we will have the opportunity once again to hold our annual conference in beautiful Pensacola.

I would also like to report that there will be some changes being made to our membership in the next few months, and want to thanks ABH2 Michael Little for volunteering to serve as our Assistant Membership Coordinator.

While these are trying times Shipmates, one thing is for certain, we will overcome these challenges and return to business as usual. I am so proud of all of our ABs, and what you are doing for our Navy and our Nation during these times. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or organization if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Stay safe ABs, and Keep your head on a swivel!

Please Forward this message for widest dissemination.

Warm Regards,

LCDR OSCAR FLORES
