The men and the women of the USS John C. Stennis Air Department were
excited to be able have an opportunity to help out our own Aviation
Boatswain's Mate Association (ABMA). We know with the rising cost to
put on the annual Symposium/Professional Working Group Conferences,
we are quickly depleting the National ABMA funds. Since the ABMA is
a non-profit organization this could mean that in the future we might
not be able to continue putting together an annual Symposium/Professional
Working Group Conference as we know of it today.
As most of you know, we have the annual Symposium/Professional Working
Group Conferences to go over agenda items submitted by the fleet. All
our recommendations actually go directly to the Office of the CNO and
all the key players such as NAVSEA, NAVSES, NAVAIR, and PERSCOMM all
attend or are given the agenda items for resolution.
All together the men and women of the USS John C. Stennis Air Department
donated $500.00 for the Aviation Boatswain's Mate Association. We challenge
other ships to join in and support the ABMA. Keep in mind this will
only benefit our own ABMA.

Tidewater Chapter Aviation Boatswain's Mates Held their annual Softball Tournament
Weather was fantastic and we had close to 300 AB’s and their family members turn out!
I personally want to thank everyone involved, specifically CDR Hernandez, ABHC Moore, ABE1 Scott and ABH1 Webb (CNATTU NORFOLK) for ensuring that everything was on time and ready to go. It is no small feat getting the base MWR bubbas and 9 separate commands on the same page!
A lot of great ball was played throughout the day and I believe the championship game was well worth the wait! It was a back and forth affair with the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT “AIR DEPT ROUGH RIDERS” taking first place over a very good USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER team, 10-7!
*Please ensure your Chain of Command knows that we are very grateful for their support and that the camaraderie and networking that takes place at these events is what keeps us a strong and viable organization. Additionally, continue to get the word out that the ABMA Symposium is being held 4-9 August at the Downtown Waterside Marriott. Uniform for Opening Day ceremony (4th of Aug) and Closing ceremony (8th of Aug) will be in Summer Dress Whites. Proper civilian attire is authorized on Tuesday-Thursday at the ABE, ABF and ABH workshops. The 9th is the ABMA Picnic Day which will be held at Fleet Rec Park.
Stay safe,
V/R
